Cricket with the guys

So… I played cricket… for the first time :-) *yaay hug to all*

Yesterday…a FRIDAY… yes… a WEEKEND… I had to go to work to finish this assignment that I got, two weeks ago… and was due last week (hehe… I am late huh). Anyhow, I didn’t get to finish the assignment… neither did I get to touch the other two assignments that are pending. Talk about being on top of things :P

So, I was sitting at my place… breaking my head on some silly short circuit study. Then Vivek comes along… with Rishie and Mathew… to get the cricket bat from Khalid’s place… me… bored as hell… invites myself to play a game of cricket… for five minutes… I ended up playing for an hour and a half. Now my whole body is sore. I cant sit… laugh… walk without saying “ouch ouch ouch”. But it was fun :-)

Apparently I can bat… now I was told that I am like the Paki cricketer Shahid Afridi… I bad like a wild dog… with out any strategic thought involved. I don’t mind… atleast I am hitting the ball :-)

Then I went on to bowl and field. I can’t aim for nuts! Most of my deliveries were wide… or … ummm.. high above the batter’s head. Fielding… I can run after the ball… I was the only one running after the ball, as a matter of fact. The guys were like… this…

*ball rolls on the ground*
*the guy stand… look at where the ball lands*
*they think*
*they decide to walk toward the ball*
*if they see a passerby*
*they scream out to the passerby to throw the ball at them*

Now when I field… it is something else… I run after the ball… finally catch up with it… and then throw it toward the nearest dude… but instead… the ball goes into one of the date palm trees and gets stuck.

*innocent look*. It is the winds fault. Yes… so what if it was a windless day… there was air… it is just that it was still and motionless yet some how the gust less wind maneuvered the ball to get lodged up in the (tallest) tree, in the parking lot. A miracle, I must say!

Anyhow, it was fun… a good break from the monotonous, brain numbing crap I have to do every day at work.

18 goin on 21

Right now… I am finally an Adult! :-)

This birthday… 5 April 2007… should be marked down in history as being my best birthday ever! Thanks to my Hammy Petro friends and Hamsters the Family :-) *thank you hug to allllll *

So, early in the morning I get up… all excited… my new attire… new shoes…. Smile smile smile…. And I reach work only to see my work area like this:

My friends… God bless them all!, stayed until 10pm the day before preparing my work are to look like a balloon fest. I entered the office and the only thing I could say was “Oh Shit… oh shit… oh shit… shit shit shit… oh shit..” Vivek took a video, it is all in there! I will probably post it on UTube :-)

Work carries on… I am still excited as hell… and my genius friends visit me after every half hour or so… gifting me some thing…. A vase, a hat cum glass, sunglasses, wipes, toe ring… anklet (I have fat feet… so I wear that as a bracelet :P), on the whole I got 18 presents that day… signifying that no matter my age…I am still sweet 18 :-)

During lunch time… I got a doll cake… :-) yummy. Blogger is being a pain and not letting me upload it... but it tasted YUMMMMMYY. It had this PINK satsh that read "Finally our doll has become an adult"... awwwwwwwwwwwwww :) *hug*

Now this presents thing I was talking about earlier… went on until I left work! I had 3 bags filled with gifts and a lot of cake. Vivek… helped me dumping everything in the car.

My birthday eve, I went to Sahara Center with my family for din din. I didn’t get any present from them. My sisters gave me some money and told me that I could buy anything I wanted with that, since they didn’t have time to shop for me. I didn’t mind…. I already got EVERYTHING from my friends!

At night, while we were preparing for bed, my sis calls me up and ‘orders’ me to sit down… out of no where I get this gift wrapped up in wrapping paper… I got a necklace… shirts and this poem that my sister altered. After some time she gave me this small box…. It was a mini tripod… you know the one for indoor use :-) My other sister said…’you know I thought you could do better with this’ and from behind her back she brings out this huge box wrapped in NEWSPAPER (her excuse: I was too lazy and I just wrapped it up with anything I could find) It was an out door tripod :-) see see….

On the following Sat. we went to Coco's for my treat.... I got 3 more presents there. Making my total present cout to be equal to 21 ( my age) :) I got another cake... a mini cake :) with 'Happy Birthday Tassy' written in PINK icing :P I was close to tears. One of the gifts I got that day... which i think was the best gift... was a small blue shirt with a group picture. The caption read 'Friends 4ever'... InshaAllah

The Petro group and members of The Den... thanks for making my day special.
Mafaz, Wardah, Hem, Keet!, Parline, Rana, Bilal, Alia, Ahmed, Ali, Shiraz (although u called me freak 7 in the morning of the 6th!) and everyone else... thank you for our greetings and well wishes... means alot. You all are the best.... Thanks for adding the spice to my day.
These are just SOME of the 21 presents I got from the Petro Gang :P

7 Days from now

Okie in another 7 days, I am scheduled for a relocation with in the department, which means I am going to be shifted into another small hot and dingy room. I think my present seating location is the best so far. I have a wall (The Great Wall of China… as I like to call it) separating me from the world and I have a wonderful Roomie (Hussien) to talk and to irritate (well I do more irritating than talking). Hehe, he is this fair dude… who gets red spots on his forehead, every time he rests his head on his hands. And he does that often, hehe… he is really fun to look at. I am going to miss him the most *sad face*
However, there are a couple things that I won’t miss when I shift from this place…
  • 35+ year old men removing their wedgies as they walk into another room, which I face when I am at my seat. I am normally hidden by my computer… so they really don’t know that I am jobless and I am observing them (Yes, I know I sound like a freak that has nothing better to do than to stare at people.)
  • People lifting the upper flap of the photocopy machine so hard that the flap bangs into the partition-wall thereby creating what seems to be an earthquake measuring 7.5 on the Richter Scale.
  • Now when these people are at the photocopy machine… doing their business, and I happen to stand up and look over to the other side of the room, I see nothing but balding spots in my view… or mere hairy heads… either way, I end up devastatingly embarrassed… and quickly get back to my butt-numbing position.
  • My Supervisor popping his head from above the partition and calling for me or my roomie. Either way, at that point he can clearly see what non-work related work (:P) I do the whole day
  • Because of the Great Wall of China, that is difficult for me to know if any one is coming along to my side of the room. So, some times… when I am engrossed in what I am doing, and when some one comes along, I shriek and jump 5 meters from my chair. In the process probably scare the other person also.
Once I was taken aback when my Super came, he saw my face full of fight and my hand holding my chest and he was like “Oh did I scare you?” In my head I was like “No, Duh. I look like this always!” I just smiled.

Yea well… I guess nothing in life is forever. *senti look*
